News from Les Ettes snowboarder Magalie Dubois
Hey guys!!!!!
It has been a lil’ while :)! A lot of new changes for me up here…
So my initial plan was to move to Whistler all winter but with the Olympics madness, it was basically impossible to find a spot at a decent price! So then I was gonna move to SLC instead… I also wanted to produce an all-girl snowboard movie with a different type of concept that we haven’t seen yet!
So I had a lot of plan goin’ on, wanted to buy a camera, had a place to live at Hana Beaman’s… but basically a week before heading to UT, I learned that the class I was taking during the fall wasn’t gonna be given when I was planning on coming back to Quebec, so it would’ve taken me an extra year to finish school. REALITY CHECK right there!!! What do I do?!!!
Well, I decided it wasn’t worth it to stretch it out that much and decided to stay in Quebec and go to school 3 days a week, plenty time to go shred. I also work as a massage therapist in a spa up here!
There’s way enough of jibs and spots to shoot around Quebec and the areas to get productive I tought, so I wasn’t too worried and was up for the challenge and I still had in mind to make my movie!
But I didn’t expect that there wouldn’t be any snow this winter up here!!!! So I haven’t been shooting much! It ‘s been crazy sunny and like +7C for the past 3 weeks, so I’m not really hoping for a snow comeback. In other words, I’ve been under spring condition in the park for the past 3 weeks cause there’s absolutely no snow in the streets… Go figure but hey, I’m having so much fun, been shredding in hoodies like there’s no tomorrow! Keeping my filming project in that lil’ brain of mine, waiting to get exploited next winter with actual snow ;)!
Last weekend I headed out to a contest, the SNOWMISSION, only a 8 hours drive jeeeez! We we’re a bunch of idiots stacked in the Axis van. Spent the weekend in Rimouski, up north of Qc. It was amaaaaaazingly fun, the set-up was just awesome, saw so many of my friends I haven’t seen in a while, placed 3rd and cashed in a bit! And obviously partied my life away, showed the dance floor who was the boss and spent a lil’ 20% of the gain!
Then, in 2 weeks it’s the BIllabong Flaunt it, an all-girl slopestyle up where I live! So that should be a lot of fun! Shredding spring style condition till the end of the season hopefully!
Looking forward to shoot a bit in the park obviously, send you guys some sweet shots!!! I’ll keep ya posted on how it goes!!! Keep shredding hard!!!
